Sagalassos was a Pisidian city in the mountains of southern Asia Minor, to the north of the modern Turkish coastal city of Antalya. Its history intersected with that of Alexander in 333 BCE, when Alexander's army found it a hard nut to crack on his journey through Asia Minor, losing twenty killed, including Cleandros, the commander of the archers, in the assault. The city largely retained its autonomy throughout the Hellenistic era, simply paying tribute to Alexander's various sucessors. Anyway, here's a link to a story in Archaeology Magazine about the current excavations underway at Sagalassos.
