"1066: THE BATTLES OF YORK, STAMFORD BRIDGE, AND HASTINGS" by Peter Marren, published by Leo Cooper, 2004, 174 pages, is an excellent new book about the three 1066 battles. It is part of the “Battleground Britain” series and features informative text and pictures of contemporary 1066 scenes from the Bayeux Tapestry and pictures of modern-day re-enactments of the battles themselves. The year 1066 is broken down into various topics such as weapons used, leaders involved, and sources used. The battle of Hastings is broken down into various topics such as the battle preparations, what happened during different times of the day, and the aftermath of the battle. It is a great book for anyone who doesn’t know much about the battles, but would like to. The book is available from Amazon.com, here:
