I love the scene where they are lost in the Mines of Moria, where Gandalf cannot figure out which tunnel to take ("I have no memory of this place") and Pippin and Merry are sitting there and you hear Pippin quietly say "Merry, I'm hungry". As a matter of fact, I love all the scenes where Pippin makes references to his stomach and food:
Pippin: What about breakfast?
Aragorn: You've already had it.
Pippin: We've had one yes, but what about second breakfast?
That exchange always cracks me up! (And it does my mother as well)
