I, Theodric, an Angle, step aboard the ship which, I am told, is called the Phoenix or some such. I have no idea what a phoenix is, but I get the impression it is a large bird. This ship is much different from ours back home in Angeln. This ship is very ornate by our standards, with lots of decoration. Our ships tend to be much simpler affairs, made of long wooden planks that overlap. They have a shallow draught, which allows them to sail on rivers or in the sea with ease. I wonder how sea worthy this vessel is? It looks seaworthy, but I've never experienced Roman workmanship first hand...
