The parchment showed a picture of a djinn, a houri, a dervish, and a ghost each holding a large black bag. Below the pictures was written the following: One of these bags holds 5,000 gold coins. One of these bags holds 3,000 gold coins. One of these bags holds 2,000 gold coins. One of these bags has none.
Each of the individuals made one statement.
“My bag and the dervish's have the highest and lowest amounts,” said the djinn.
“This bag and the djinn's have a total of 5,000 coins,” said the houri.
“The ghost's amount taken from my amount leaves 3,000 coins,” said the dervish.
“Neither I nor the djinn have the highest or lowest amounts,” said the ghost.
The parchment also said: “Two of them are lying. You must choose a bag, but be careful, the bearer must be a truth teller. Whose bag should you choose so as to get the most gold coins?
