    After Pertinax was killed by Praetorians angry at his lack of largesse, Septimius Severus accepted the proclamations of his Pannonian troops as Emperor, and was the founder of the Severian dynasty. Also covered here are the defeated Pertinax, Didius Julianus, Pescennius Niger, and Clodius Albinus. 193 - 211 AD ...

    You know that's just like Caracalla. All close and cosey to the army, but not ever really accomplishing much. After reading his biography I feel inclined to change my synopsis on him. He led a number of campaigns against the Persians to no effect as well.
