Even from the outside, I know the sound of my sister's voice can be heard over the chatter of the inn's patrons.
"Not on your life! I'm going first. You were the one got us lost in the first place." I've had enough of this. I'm tired of always bringing up the rear.
I lay my hand to the door of the Kash Bowl and slam it open. My feet stumble as I try to pull our enormous Radio Flyer through the doorway.
"Push, why don't you, you lazy wench!" I holler at my sister, Brydi.
Squinting in the candlelight, I heave on the handle one last time, and the red wagon plops through the door like a ripe grape.
I don't have to look around to see that Brydi is close behind. I can hear her snarling.
Making my way to the bar, I survey the good-looking merchandise that seems to be sprawled all around. Very nice stuff, I think.
I pound my hand on the bar. "Barkeep! We'll be having some ale."
I look at my sister, the one who got us lost.
"And we'll be needing some directions, too, if you please!"
