Dunar began shouting commands to his men. He looked around for Grace but knew she was still tending to Tigernans body. “I will not be goin’ down on someone elses ship. Even if they are dead, I will not be goin’ down on this ship!” Dunar shouted to the wind. Another port-side wave rocked the boat. The men scurried about the ship taking down the remaining sail.
One of Dunars men approached. “Cap’n, do ye think this boat will hold?”
Dunar knocked him on the head with the bottle of rum still in his hand. “Get back to work!” The man ran off in a hurry. Dunar went to take a swig from the bottle, but seawater was all he tasted. Flinging the bottle overboard he made his way for the bow of the ship.
At the bow, Dunar scanned the horizon for a break in the storm. Between the rain and waves crashing he could see nothing. Dunar looked up to where the crows nest used to be, the back to the horizon. Dunar listened to the ever creaking of the boat as is bashed against oncoming waves. As he listened an sobering feeling of impending doom overtook him. The creaking has stopped all together yet the boat still rocked side to side. Dunar lifted his head only to see a wall of water rapidly approaching the ship. “All hands....” Dunar stopped himself, knowing no one was in earshot.
Before he could even look up again the wave was upon them. Dunar attempted to hang onto the rail at the bow, but his grip could not withstand the blow. The bow of the ship rose halfway up the wall of water. Sending anyone not hanging on to the floor. Luckily the boat pierced the wave instead of being capsized. But as the boat began to level out the tremendous wave crashed down, center of the ship.
Captain Dunar lay on the deck unconscious. Next to him floats a bottle of rum.
