    ... and so does Aelfwine, seeing a thread with no posts. Just to get the ball rolling, I was wondering what we really know about Anglo-Saxon architecture. Actually, since I'm an amateurish geeky newbie, I was wondering about the sources for the stunning Rohan sets of "The Lord of the Rings", inspired by AS art (check out this page to refresh your memory, especially the video). What is actually extant from history? Churches, I guess, and maybe pictorial representations or contemporary descriptions. I remember reading somewhere the origin of the horses' heads on top of building but I can't remember what it was. On the topic, I found something on the Net, and even a quiz, but I was looking for possibly more reliable sources.
