I agree, Eowyn. PJ's Elves do have wonderful scenes such as the vision of their departing in the FOTR EE (I should make a whole post about how much I detest the concept of EEs - not the added scenes, of course, but the fact that those scenes were not added in the TE!). I also loved the arrival of the Elves at Helm's Deep, though not "canon", and the whole Haldir part, because at that point their aloofness made sense. And I think I'm one of the few who appreciates Celeborn, solemn and concerned. But there are moments when this coldness is overdone. Just one example. The scene in ROTK when Arwen has the vision of Eldarion is wonderful, a poignant addition, but the reaction of the other elves in the party is stunning... Elrond's daughter races off, and they react with barely a glance (apart from Figwit - the dark-haired elf who has the grace to ask what's wrong!) Coolness towards humans is understandable, but coolness among themselves sounds weird.
