All right... I know satire isn't technically part of the contest... but this darn wedding is stressing me out and I have to blow off steam somehow!
The sun had long retired to its otherworldly bed Yet still at the round table several sat with eyes so red Noble lords and ladies all, with wit and grace and fire Yet resolutions and debate were rousing wrath and ire Forth from the kingdom of mother-in-law the accusation flew "You know what your problem is? You think it's all about you! Quiet yet impatient a fair maiden then replied, "Duh, of course. It's my wedding." And then with regret she sighed. For the evil beast, the mother-in-law transformed from hag to beast The maiden knew that forever shattered was the kingdom's peace. Despite the pleas of her noble son, the spell would not be halted So for turning against his mum the lord could not be faulted. The battle raged for half the night, with venom and fire and blade The dragon demanded things her way-- as if she were the one who paid. "My love!" The maiden cried out, encircled by a ring of fire "Is there no way to escape this situation dire?" "We could always go to Vegas," the brilliant lad replied. "That would solve all, for when mum finds out, surely she will die." A brilliant plan it was, for sure, though fated never to be You can't elope after invitations are sent, unfortunately. So bravely the young couple turned to face the dragon's might True love is worth a battle, even if it takes all night. Taking on a sword of truth the maiden did cry, "I hate teal! You can't make me use it!" For this she was prepared to die. Her noble lord joined the fight, bravely stating true that etiquette works both ways, not just in favor of you. "No longer do I fear the dragon's flaming fire," he said "I'll live my own life as I like, or I'd rather be dead!" Together the maid and lord did slay that dragon, chopping it up Well, they didn't kill her, but at least they got her to shut up. And thus the battle ended, and all retired to bed And the maid and lord were left in peace to decide just how they'd wed.
