The limericks not proven a Celtic invention,
That theory is still a cause of contention,
For there are rhymes,
From before the times,
Of history oral or written does ere mention!

Not that I do not love limericks,
The poem form that gives me kicks,
Through such verse,
Clean or perverse,
It's the form of converse I picks!
