Verres was totally uninjured, which was an amazing thing considering that he fought like crazy and paid no heed to his safety. This was it. He was dead from fighting or dead from Flaccus' 'law' therefore Verres made a decision. With news fresh from Hispania of Aeneas' heroics, hazed by the delirium of battle, he cried:
"FLACCUS! FLACCUS!! You want to kill ME?! Then LET us fight. I shall stand brave as Propraetor Aeneas, and if you have ANY honor to you left, you shall play the roll of Sertorius. Are you MAN enough to take this challenge, or will you hide behind your men just like you hide behind your Senatus Consultums?!"
