Watching
the tutor stumble over the thought of working at Morga's, she grinned inside.
He really was a little charmer, albeit somewhat rough around the edges. Some
personal attention and the relief of being employed would certainly ease his
nervous, clumsy manner. It was rather amusing to watch how his face took on
differing hues. First that scarlet blushing when he had knocked her over and
now a snowy whiteness hard to hide. She took another sip of the horrid wine
and grimaced at its harsh taste. She put the cup down and finished listening
to his half-hearted acceptance of her offer.
The moment
Pylaemenes finished speaking, she arose swiftly. He looked up in momentary surprise,
then also arose uncertainly wondering what would happen next on this day of
strangeness.
"I
have just a little bit of shopping to do before we go on to Morga's. If you
don't mind?" she asked prettily, "No sense in wasting further time
here, and the wine was awful."
He nodded
in agreement, though within he sighed the perennial sigh of all men forced to
do a "little" shopping with women. He knew he'd be package-bearer,
advisor and compliment-giver all in one. Yet, he had accepted Nadira's offer,
and recalling his lack of funds he manfully swallowed any signs of unhappiness
and followed her out to the street.
