Calenus had been in the middle of the fight on the temple stairs and saw that this was getting nasty, too nasty. Men were dying. As he finally got out of the melée he approached Verres who was encouraging his followers. "Verres, I´m calling the Plebeian Assembly into session right here, right now. Try to get your men stop the fight."
He stood up on a vendor´s table and shouted: "Citizens, I call the Plebeian Assembly into session! Stop the fighting, the bastards on the other side are Roman too, though they are not acting like it. No point now, any senatus consulta passed are illegal because tribunes have been hindered in their right to exercise the veto and because the Plebeian Assembly is hereby in session!"
OOC: I´m posting this here as all the action is taking place on this thread. And yes, apparantly the senate could not be in session during an assembly. I just read it today. Makes sense, I think.
