The strict dietary laws, I'm sure seemed like a burden at times but even now in modern day societies scientists are discovering
the many benefits of kosher diets.
Scientists also agree that more "live" foods like herbs, vegetables, grains, fruits have many healing properties.
Some of these herbs were used to make poultices for wounds, cleansing the systems, while yet others were used for beauty treatments.
This topic is of interest to me because I guess grandmaws' home remedies are safer than the side effects of most modern day medicines.
I would love to see info shared here on the many herbs and their uses that grow in the middle east as well as foods and their place in Middle Eastern culture.
I'm sure that even today with the hussle and bustle of life most middle eastern peoples spend more time socializing around the dinner tables than most who are say in the US.
The people in the US (as a whole) eat way too much fast foods and things that are not living foods, for example, fries and a hamburger is mostly grease and salt.
Salt and sugar are biggies in the US as well.
There have to be better ways to eat and season foods without all the salt, fat, and sugars.
There is much that can be learned by studying the Bible diet as the people in the US call it.
I believe the Jews call it kosher "a way of preparing foods" and they follow the strict dietary laws from the Old testament.
I'm sure in the modern Middle Eastern regions today you will still find an occasional McDonald's though. *S*
