As I return home with the lamb, I see a small gathering in the neighborhood. Our neighbor, Sygnus gives firewood to Taranis and then turns to his home. I stop by the window of our home and catch Reyanah's eye.
She stands stunned for a moment. When last she saw me, I was leading the innocent little wooly fellow away. Now he lay limp in my arms, more red than white. She gathers the bread she prepared and follows me as I move on.
Our families are small, so among our neighbors, we will share this meal. Maybe it was the message Moses had spoken about the remembrance of this occasion, but I have an odd kind of feeling about it.
I have seen the power of this God Moses claims is the God of our fathers. Nine times he called upon this God to strike Pharoah with plagues. And each time, the whole of the land was stricken with the plagues. Each time, the plagues did not come near us.
Now the final plague is coming? I hope this God will do what Moses says He will do. I will make sure the marks are made properly, just in case.
Tayla arrives with a small bowl and we all share a look of apprehension. I lift up the lamb and the blood spills over into the bowl. Rayder takes the body and quickly peels away the skin. Taranis has the fire burning. It will be time for dinner soon.
