    Has anyone else mentioned realism?

Only the amount of role plays that I've been in where something utterly stupid has happened is amazing.

I don't mean that people have to stick to the letter of history, the movie, the book, whatever they are rp'ing because I know that these things are open to interpretation and to the authours imagination but when two characters hook up (as is usually the case) who in the book, movie, history, whatever, would never have done so, it's bizarre and can put a crimp on the rp.

I was in a rp once where this happened, two characters had gotten married, even though (in the book we were free rping from) they couldn't stand to be in the same room. I thought, the explaination for this is going to be amazing, what must have happened to make thses two characters love each other? So I asked, the reply was "Oh, we thought they'd look cute together"

But then again, there is such a thing as taking realism too far :)
