I do have a soft spot in my heart for Thera, as well as all the Aegean area. I enjoy reading and studying about the Minoans and the Cycladic cultures as well. Don't know exactly why I dug deep to find that archaeologists' name...it was interesting, I suppose!

As far as learning German, I live in Germany and find it a terrifically difficult language to get my head and tongue around. I find Italian and related languages a bit easier to learn.
