and to the others whom have stated there observations and opinions here on this thread. *S*
A community such as AW can only survive if it is an open community where its members work 'together', share 'together', accept each other and realize that there is a need for there to be something for everyone, be it historical discussion, role play, trivia games, et al.
I have seen AS at its very best and have also seen it at its very worst. When AW opened, I was apprehensive, so I like AzureEyes have sat back and watched as the proverbial chips have fallen. I have witnessed the same old power plays persist here that were present at AS and which in my estimation hindered Egypt's growth at AS. I have been offered protection if I joined this thread, or did that. What an incredible turn off. I do not need protection as I am fully capable of standing on my own dainty feet, thank you very much, but there will come a day when there will be younger, less experienced members and this is not acceptable. Deceipt and actions such as these only serve to stifle the growth of our our community and are lacking in forsight for the communities benefit, and only serve personal goals.
Some may say that this is an idealistic view. Perhaps. But I ask, have we not learned from our previous mistakes and are we not ready to move on, to grow, to make this site capable of its full potential?
