(Hope I'm putting this in the right place! *g*)
Here's a bit of a glossary of words relating to the city of Tenochtitlan and the Mexica in general that may be useful:

    Altepetl:
A city-state large enough to have its own army and to be called a nation of people.

    Calpulli:
(Group of houses) Approximately 20 calpullis (or more according to Soustelle) existed. Each with its own Telpochcalli (military school) and its own temple. The calpullis were grouped into one of the four sections of Tenochtilan: in the east was Teopan (place of God); in the north was Cuepopan (place of blossoming flowers); in the west was Aztacalco (beside the house of herons); and in the south was Moyotlan (place of mosquitos). The number of calpullis varied from section to section.

    Calpullec:
    Elected head of a calpulli.

    Calmecac:
A combination university, monastery, and military school for the elites of Tenochtitlan and the other large cities of Anahuac. There were at least four of these universities in Tenochtitlan.

    Cihuacoatl:
(“Snakewoman”). This was equivalent to viceroy or co-regent, especially under Tlacaelel. This female serpent position was always held by a man.

    Cihuatlamacazqui:
    Woman priest.

    Coatepantli:
(Serpent-headed wall) The sacred center of Tenochtitlan where the major temples were located.

    Iyac:
Proven warrior with four or more captives.

    Macehualtin:
The common people. They had the right to an education, food and clothing, ability to rise in rank all the way to the noble class, they voted in their calpulli, they had the obligation of military service and communal work, plus they had to pay taxes, and the land that they worked was their responsibility

    Pilli:
    Children of lords. The nobility

    Piochtli:
Hair worn in lock at nape until the warrior became a proven warrior with captives.

    Pochtecatl:
    The merchant class of Tenochtitlan.

    Quauhteca: (or Cuauhteca?)
A warrior who dies in battle or sacrifice. He is a companion of the sun as it rises in the sky. He is then reincarnated as a hummingbird to live amongst the flowers.

    Telpochcalli:
The military schools for everyone, except the noble class who had the calmecac.

    Tecuhtli:
A lord. A person of the noble class.

    Tequiua:
A commander---warrior proven in battle and allowed to wear feathers, leather bracelets and all the other identifying clothing of an Iyac commander. One who earned his nobility status through his bravery as a warrior with four or more captives.

    Tlacateccatl:
(He who commands the warriors) Equivalent to a general.

    Tlacatecuhtli:
(Lord of the people) The title of the Tlatoani.

    Tlachtli:
