And yes we are slaves in more than one sense, and even the rich ones are. They are slaves of their money or of the peer-groups' expectations or whatever.
About your question: what is progress in ART, Philosophy, architecture. If you ask a contemporary artist, philosopher, architect, he will point out to you what we know or do today that the Ancients had not. But is that progress?
Who judges progress?
And to come back to the original topioc of the thread: Is greek philosophy set apart by being the 'founding philosophy' of our culture?? (This would set Hebrew theology apart and indo-germanian language, and Egyptian geometry :-)
