No_have not read the Dragon King, but thought it looked interestng. Do not think it far-fetched that there would be many similar tales of hero leaders, and loyal followers. I think
the pulling them all together to make an entertaining romance is a device of the middle ages. The ladies embroidered the stories as they did their needlework; and the wandering troubadores went from castle to hovel, and spead them about. Then someone, probaly French, wrote them down for posterity, and so did others. It was the ladies of Eleanor's court, who journed with her back and forth accross the channel, who made them fashionable.
There may have been many Arthurs. I do think that at one time one was really burried at Glastonbury, and so was his Queen.
