Arthur comes out of the kitchen and to my dismay with no food. “Didn’t you forget something?” I question in anger. “I thought you were making something for me to eat.”
“It’s being taken care of.” Is all he responds. I look over to the women who also inquired about some food. She looks at me and all I can do is shrug my shoulders. I rest my head back down on the table. The spinning has subsided now. If it wasn’t for this burning in my stomach, I would feel just fine. I am so hungry I can almost smell something cooking. I lift my head and take a deep breath though my nose. Wonderful, something is cooking. I look to the women who has noticed it as well. She is looking over at Arthur. I smile to her but she only turns her head to stare at the table.
Just then a women backs her way into the room, from the kitchen. "Get it while it's hot, and who wants more ale?" She passes out bowls to each of us. “More ale mister?” I grab my bowl, foregoing a thank you, and proceed to inhale my stew. I don’t even realize it is stew, until half way through I stop to taste.
“No, no ale for me. Thanks anyway.” Being so incredibly hungry this stew tastes wonderfully delicious. “Great stew.” I say to her as she pours Arthur another brew. I look around the room to see Arthur and Giacomo eating there stew rather slowly. Turning to the women I see she is enjoying it as I am. ‘Oh well,’ I think to myself. ‘It taste great to me. At least I’m getting something in my stomach.’ I finish up my bowl and realize I am surprisingly full. I hate when that happens, you wait so long to eat that you can hardly eat anything. I hope this mystery cook will hang around. I know I’ll be hungry later.
“More?” She shouts loud enough for us all to hear. Quick shakes of the head come from Arthur and Giacomo. “How about you two in the back?” The women shyly raises her bowl for more stew. I push my bowl to the edge of the table, not able to eat anymore. I look out the window and notice the sun has set for the day. It is time to be wary of strangers coming in for the night.
