Artemidorus froze. The message he'd received was unmistakable - the vague rumors of attack were not only true, but Caesar was to die today. The conspirators would meet him at the Senate and cut him down like one of his own sacrifices.
What to do? He could not stand by to watch murder done, let alone such a murder. Racing to his study, he grabbed papyrus and a pen with hands shaking so badly, he dropped the scroll twice.
Sitting, he began to write. He would intercept Caesar on way to the Senate and give him the warning. He prayed that Brutus and the others would not see him - but so be it. This murder would bring a curse upon them all.
