    Hear, hear. Well, said. Dorothy L. Sayers does the same thing and it drives me nuts!!! Otherwise, of course, I adore Dorothy's books. *g* I don't mind it so much if it's one word and context makes it apparent what they mean. But both these authors will have their characters read a letter or carry on a conversation ... or even just sing a song ... and then leave you to go track down a translation. (I always do, but it disrupts the flow of the narrative.)
