Deos anyone here havfe a great knowledge of internal Viking politics in this period? I was thinking on the transformation of Viking invasions of England. At first the Vikings came in somewhat small numbers, raiding and looting, and then sailing home. But then in this "Second Viking Age" they came back in greater numbers with more cohesion. What made for this transformation? Was it the losses inflicted by Alfred, Edward, and Athelstan? I was thinking more on the line of what was going on back in Norway and Denmark at this time that would contribute to these large armies starting to come over to the Isles. Any thoughts
