Ginger and I left New Orleans on December 26, 2003, for a Christmas holiday in Canada. We arrived in New York that night and the next morning took a train for Montreal. We stayed at one of the earliest stone buildings (circa 1648 AD) in old Montreal, now the Hostellerie Pierre du Calvet. Ben Franklin stayed there on one ocassion. In the picture the entrance to the hotel is to the left, next to that is a fine restaurant named "LES FILLES DU ROY" and next to that is the stone building we stayed in.
The hotel was furnished with antiques. Here is a picture of Ginger relaxing on a "swooning couch" preparing by candle light our walking tour of the city.
Here is a picture of the Basilique Notre Dame du Montreal. I'm in the foreground freezing my butt off.
This is a picture of the old City Hall lit up for the Christmas season.
After three nights in Montreal, we took a train to Quebec where we would spend New Years Eve. I'll make a post later about our Quebec stay.
