and it reminds me that the Temple of Athena Nike has been taken down. It is no longer standing on the Acropolis. The story we were told last month was that the foundations were in bad shape and that the building was taken down so that the foundations could be repaired and then the building would be re-erected.

I have to say, the place looked very different without that lovely little temple!
