I look through the eggs, and find a rather large one. On the assumption that larger eggs have thicker shells, I select this one, and carefully make my way to the bowl. Nearly tripping -- and almost squeezing the egg too hard -- I arrive at the bowl, and look down in my hand.
The egg is still intact.
"I'm Mangas, and I was reared by the Inde -- Apache to you. I travel the width and breadth of the Northern Lands, and I take the time to explore the Maya, too. I'm proud to meet all of you."
I break the egg, which settles happily into the bowl with all the other eggs. I wonder if later on we will fry ourselves up an omelette. (I have some bison cheese in reserve if we need it.)
