    Thanks for the information and comments, Thiu. I noticed that too: the fact that the main points not favorable to the Normans or duke William were refuted by Poitier's version. That plus his augmentation convinced me that something wasn't right in Davis et al denigrating the Carmen as a phony original source. But I am anticipating Barlow. So far, Oxford University Press has not replied one way or the other: silence is favorable, I choose to believe. But if they in fact send me an "out of print" notice, I shall be getting in touch with you pronto, since you said maybe you could help me secure a copy.
