    This is just a thought, and I might be totally off. I wonder what the attiudes of Anglo-Saxons and Northmen were towards the southern people of Europe. Was there a general mistrust or suspicion? Were the Germanic peoples of the north in contact with southern people frequently enough to form any general thoughts about them? Was there perhaps legends, myths, stories about foreigners of different stock? Just thoughts.
