Tetisheri : (from site below) I've just finished reading the Queen of Freedom trilogy, which is about Ahhotep, and I found a character there who intrigued me: Ahhotep's mother, Tetisheri. I have done a little research on her, as I want to write a story about Teti.
Teti was a commoner who married the Pharaoh Senakhtenre (Tao I). She must have had a strong will, which she passed to her descendants. Teti was the first in a line of powerful women, who stood with the Pharaohs, until Hatshepsut stepped out and took complete power. Starting with Tetisheri, queens were no longer simply consorts, but were given titles and important roles of their own, as well as official royal garments, such as the vulture crown.
Her grandson, Ahmose I, built a pyramid to honour her. She is said to be called the "Mother of the New Kingdom", because it must have been something in her influence that sparked her children's fight to rid Egypt of the Hyksos rulers.
An interesting website that writes about Tetisheri is:
