With help from the kitchen, Amalasuntha spread out a clean linen on the table and placed a steaming pot of warm stew, two bowls and spoons on the table in front of the newcomers. She disappeared back into the kitchen, returning with a loaf of freshly baked bread, still steaming, some honey, butter and cheese on a large board. She didn't speak until she'd cut a few fresh slices of bread.
"If you wish to stay and rest, we still have some rooms. They are not fancy, but they are clean. The fare here is simple but its always well made and very tasty, if I say so myself." She smiled, "I should know, I'm the cook. And before I forget, there is fresh hay in the stables for your animals. I will have one of the boys from the kitchen take care of them if need be."
