I agree with you Max when you say that most Romans perhaps didn't consider the coin itself as a form of artistic expression. It was a pice of metal used for a very parctical purpose, as Hecate said in her the first post of this discussion thread. But what about the prespective of those who created the engravings, who sumarized in a simple, schematic drawing complex messages and ideas, what would they think? Remember that these were the smae persons that casted and molded such works of art as the mIdelnHall treasure, the warren cup, the helmet of Xanthos...
