    Ausustus built the Temple of Mars Ultor or Mars the Avenger to celebrate the defeat of Julius Caesar's assassins. Was this purely a celebration of his victory in the civil war, or was it an attempt to gain divine patronage for his revolutionary overthrow of the republic? What do you think?
