    There must have been only a rare few who would run the risk?

    I understand that they were allowed to marry, after the age of thirty. A few managed to do so.

    They required virgins to tend the sacred fire. It must have been some type of magical ceremony that they had great faith in. It does not seem to have been in harmony with nature.
