Mask of a mounted Roman soldier, found at KalkrieseThe Depts. of Ancient History and Archaeology of the University of Osnabrück are the leading institutions for the excavations at Kalkriese.
Students created an online resource, which is outstanding. It covers all aspects of the excavations and contains the relevant source texts (Tacitus, Florus, Dio) as original and German versions. The only problem is that there is no English version so far.
Nevertheless, here is the link to Kalkriese - Die Örtlichkeit der Varusschlacht (Kalkriese - Location of the Varian battle, opens in new window).
