Roman History for "Hollywood Types"
The Bengal Club, a group originally founded to do colonial war games, has a few reasonable pages on Roman military and cavalry.
Both pages have good pictures and reasonable summaries, although I do not agree with the author's assertions about the four-horned Roman cavalry saddle being inadequate to hold the rider in place during a heavy cavalry charge. According to Ann Hyland in _Training the Roman Cavalry Horse_, this saddle provides a surprising firm seat with little room to negotiate.
Hyland's book is highly recommended, and, although out of print, should be available through interlibrary loan.
