    Personally, I have to admit that Orphic cults and the Apollonian and Dionysian aspects are familiar to me mainly through Friedrich Nietzsche's work, especially (of course) his "Die Geburt der Tragödie" [1872 (1874)]. It will be most interesting, at least for me, to discuss this cult and the ancient aspect of the dichotomy, here - I was of the same understanding as you, Lydia, that the cult is widely known to have existed, but seldom addressed more conclusively.
