Effective immediately there is a rule change regarding Stables and Palaestre.
Largely as a result of trying to be a bit more realistic and partly due to making sense of the new 3D model of Rome that Fabio is building for us I have decided to change an unrealistic bit of nonsense that has existed in the rules since the start.
Effective immediately all player owned stables and palaestre are NOT located alongside the player's villa urbana. They will instead be located (as if by magic) to randomly assigned locations OUTSIDE the pomerium of Rome.
This reflects certain known limitations on weaponry with the pomerium, horse circulation within the city and above all the undesirable nature of slave compounds and animal facilities next to your pretty home.
Lastly, it also simplifies the map we are creating.
To reflect this change, from now on rather than receiving 50 points added to your Villa Urbana value when you buy either a palaestra or a stables you will now receive 100 CUL points instead.
This rule change will not be retrospective, in other words do NOT remove any points from Villa value NOR add any to CUL if you already own one or both of these structures.
Only new purchases will be affected.
You might also want to give some thought to your security concerns now that active gladiators are no longer living at your home.
