In the tradition of many of the great literary circles and an outset from Oprah's Book Club, I am proposing a chief expedition of unprecedented exposure. The plan is to deconstruct Caesar's commentaries on The Conquest of Gaul, volume by volume, with member's commentaries running throughout the discussion.
Each person is to either buy or reread each section and post discussions on it, regardless of the publisher, translator, or edition each person has. This is where the discourse will come into play, as the different publications will say different things. The only requisite for this discussion will be that each person sites their own source for the Conquest.
It is planned that discussion will begin on the 13th of July, in commemoration of the birth of Caesar, so it is expected that everyone will have the first book, The Expulsion of Intruders read by then. The book is not much, about an average of twelve American dollars per copy. If anyone has problems with the money, there are plenty of online versions as well. If there are any questions, please contact me.
You can find the current discussion going on at Commentaries on the Commentaries.
Meet you there.
