    More and more, Latin seems to get used in the groups of Ancient Worlds. Many times, your praeceptrix gets grams or messages with requests to translate technical terms or sayings into Latin. It's time to create a thread for this phaenomenon here in the Schola, so that others can participate in the translation game as well. There's also room for plenty of discussion about what would make the best translation. Reason enough to get the teaching of Latin going! This thread is for the translation of English sayings into Latin ...

    Dear ones, I have been ill for a few days and it's only now that I saw this interesting conversation. Aulus, I personally would agree with your translation, because of the reason mentioned. I fully agree with that. Next, I think that names of places, if their literal meaning is not really known, should be translated with a short description of the place, BUT: please, let us not TEASE eachother in that respect.

    For the question about the language of the entries: I don't have anything against, French, German, Italian, Greek, Dutch, or Spanish, because I can read, speak and understand these languages, but I would ask all of you to stick to English as much as possible, so that the group of partcipants in this can be as large as possible..
