Thank you, Mirjam for your valuable message. I certainly will annotate the bibs. Also, I know that a place like AW is very international. If anyone wants I can provide reading lists in languages other than English.
It's always difficult to determine how to divide a civilization into topics for discussion. In the case of Egypt it's more difficult than most because everything is inter-connected. Even trade and the economy can't be discussed without reference to the Royal myth and other aspects of the Ancient Egyptian belief system.
Religion is especially difficult. I prefer the term 'belief system' because the modern concept of what religion is doesn't come anywhere near the Ancient Egyptian view. Most of what we know about it comes from funerary contexts or concerns the official, royal cult. What ordinary people thought is largely hidden from us.
I agree that the proposed divisions aren't perfect but, by and large, I vote to go with them. Trying to fit 3000 years of a very complex civilization into a discussion board is like trying to fit an octopus into a turtleneck sweater. Still, we have to start somewhere.
