Greetings! I have been reading about the Golden Horde, and realized that when this group was founded, we were focusing mainly on Chinghis and his immediate followers and the Mongol conquest of China. However, the Golden Horde means something much more specific than many of us had realized - the Khanate of the Golden Horde essentially was the name of the Mongol conquerors in Russia and surrounding areas, later known as the Tartars.
I would like to suggest, and see what the group thinks, that we expand the focus of the group, adding in a whole new dimension of the history of the Mongols in Russia and related territories. What do you think?
I should note that I will soon be changing jobs and won't be required to travel so much - which means, I hope, that I can give more to the group than I have in the past, and I hope an expansion of its focus will also draw in new members interested in both Chinghis and the Khans in the wilder territories to the West.
