The word "panic" started with a god. Anyone who has been alone in the woods on a dark night is aware of eerie sounds that can be heard. The Greeks thought that these frightening sounds were purposely caused by the great god Pan who dwelt in the forest, and his name gave them the phrase to panikon deima, "the panic fear." So your Wall Street Panic" descends directly from the Greek god Pan. In today's economy I say someone better get that little goat footed guy off the street!
