    =================================
    In the aftermath of the battle
    =================================

    "How many dead; in total?" Brutus asked sitting in a wooden chair found in the enemy's camp, his right foot on ice. "It will leave you a nasty crumb for some days" the physician told Brutus while treating the light injury.
    "One thousand and one hundred-sixty nine, sire" the Tribune replied. "The most casualties were inflicted on the 4rth Legion - at least eight hundred of the dead are soldiers of the Fourth. The Third took less injury, five hundred men give or take."
    "And how many wounded?"
    "Two hundred and six men, general."
    "Very good."
    "We have also twenty five men missing but I have men looking for them amongst the injured."
    "How many dead has the enemy?" asked Marcellus.
    "You were late!" noticed Brutus at his second in command, as Marcellus arrived in the scene. "No matter;" the Quaestor said relieved. "No matter. A great victory."
    "How many?" Marcellus asked again, dismissing Brutus's reaction.
    "More than three thousand, sir" the Tribune replied.
    "What of Pantheras? Have you found him yet?" Brutus asked.
    "Yes we have, sire. The old general preferred to fall on his own sword than be captured; I have not defiled the body by severing off its head as his was an honourable death. I also want to say that I am sorry if my decision displeased you in any fashion - I take full responsibility for not having his head in front of you right now."
    "No matter, lad. You did only what you thought honourable; I commend you for it. In fact I think I shall reward you: Marcellus, give this man the double of the amount promised to whomever would bring me Pantheras's head. Oh, by the by; how many have we captured?".
    "You mean who many *we've* captured!" Marcellus noticed. "It was the cavalry's duty to gather up the fleeing foes, was it not? No, no justice must be done here; it was we that we had to gallop all the way through the plain to gather up the frightened *cattle*! But go on and tell him, Quintus! The old bastard will be most glad and may for once admit that he needs me." he continued, teasing Lucius. Brutus made a winch of displeasure at the comments but at the same time nodded at the Tribune to reveal the number.
    "One thousand eight hundred and seven men, sir".
    The three men shared a look of disbelief. However, after a split Brutus succumbed into hysteric laughter.
    "One thousand eight--".
    "Eight hundred and seven slaves. Good, eh?" Marcellus boasted filled with pride.
    "Very good indeed! They shall fetch a very good price."
    "Sir?" the Tribune said.
    "More than enough to repay the loan; and to sponsor my year as Aedile. I might even be the richest man in Rome by now--"
    "Sir?" the tribune said again.
    "Ah, of course some should go to the lads, eh chief?" Marcellus said.
    "Yes, of course all will be paid. As I was saying, I might even be the richest man in Rome! Imagine that? I will be able to--".
    "SIR" the Tribune cried.
    "Yes, Quintus; what is it?" Brutus said, releasing a sigh.
    "Only the one thousand and ninety-nine can be sold at full price. The rest will fetch half that price at best, due to physical injuries. I thought you would like to know."
    "No matter." Brutus said. "One thousand are more than enough. Well, have them sold immediately! Inform me of the proceedings!"
    "This man irritates me immensely" Brutus whispered at Marcellus. "Why he had to interrupt me like that? Fucking Plebe!"

    Lucius Iunius Brutus

    a. I sell the 1000 well-bodied Greek slaves I've captured at their current full price ie 500 denarii. That will generate the amount of 500K denarii. :O

    b. Of the 500K, 200K are sent to the Senate and People of Rome as Brutus's gift while the rest 300K will be transferred to my accounts.

    c. From the ninety-nine well-bodied slaves that remain, eighty four of them will be sent to Rome, to my House to be my slaves. The rest fifteen will go to Cassius Scipio.

    d. Of the 768 depriced slaves, I sell the 500 on 250 denarii and generate the sum of 125,000 denarii of which all are to be given to the 3rd and the Bythinian legion, divided accordingly to rank and heroism in battle.

    e. The rest 268 will remain in chains for the moment until I have some better use for them.
