Oh, brother. Check out this story and weep, brothers and sisters. I picked up on this because one of our Hellene friends did an article about the Phaistos Disc (also, apparently, doubts gathering about its authenticity) and just casually mentioned that radio-carbon dating of The Capitoline Wolf suggests that it is not Etruscan at all, but was forged during the Middle Ages . . .?
