I'm now reading (just for the heck of it) Lost Continents and the Hollow Earth, which is basically just a re-release of I Remember Lemuria with additional commentary.

Lemuria was originally released in installments in Amazing Stories magazine starting in 1943. Even though its supposedly a true story, it reads more like something you'd find in the old Amazing Stories archives.

I have no doubt that part of it is true, that the person who wrote the original (Richard Shaver) really did hear voices when he operated his welding machine. However, now we have medication for that kind of condition.

I think the rest are just the hallucinations of a sick mind. (Though it is odd that some of the technology he mentions would actually come to pass in future decades--that could just be good guessing.)

What fascinates me is that the Nazis actually believed the Hollow Earth theory, along with several of the claims of "Titans" and "master races" that lived within the earth. I keep reading thinking, "What am I missing? What did seemingly intelligent people see here that I am not?"
