The Tempest Stele
Found on the 3rd pylon at Karnak it is one of two stele from Ahmose (the other being the Donation Stele in which Ahmose purchase the sisterhood of Amun for his wife, reestabilishing his reign as a Benefactor of Amun)
Anyhoo, the Tempest Stele recounts a period in time where a great storm struck Egypt that destroyed temples, tombs, pyramids, etc., etc. The theories to these events are numerous. Some Egyptologist theorize a possible "rewriting" of the historical record, erasing a Hyskos invasion. Another interesting interpretation leads to a reference to the actual Exodus of the Jewish people - in which various storms and plagues were thrust upon the Egyptians to force the release of the Jews. Another possible theory is, it could be true - that the Nile flooded one year and destroyed numerous monuments.
Truth? That would be strange. Wouldn't it?
